Scholarship Program

SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED TO CITY OF RUTLAND RESIDENTS

Philosophy Statement

The Rutland Recreation and Parks Department Committee recognizes that program fees can pose an economic hardship on some individuals, preventing them from participating. To address this, we offer a fee reduction and assistance system for eligible residents of Rutland City.

Rutland City residents can apply for scholarships for Youth Programming and Summer Day Camps. Scholarships are not retroactive, so please plan ahead.

Youth Programming Scholarships

Application Window: July 1st - September 30th
Processing Time: 7-10 days
Eligibility: Applicants must live within the boundaries of the City of Rutland and be able to verify residency upon request.

Applicable Programs:

  • Swim Lessons

  • Rutland Youth Theater Programming

  • Skating Lessons

  • Youth Instructional Sports Programs

  • Youth Leagues

  • Mountain Biking

  • Other youth programming from September to June (excluding Summer Day Camps and Specialty Camps)

Notes:

  • Scholarship funds do not cover memberships or admissions to facilities.

  • All Youth Programming Scholarships expire on June 30th. Applications are available starting July 1st of each new fiscal year.

  • Funding is limited, and applications are processed in the order they are received.

Summer Day Camps and Specialty Camps Scholarships

Application Window: December 1st - February 11th, 2026
Processing Time: Applications will be reviewed by the Program Directors within two weeks of the deadline.

  • Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need and available funds.
    Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, families must meet the following:
✅ Residency: Must live in Rutland City
✅ Income Guidelines: Household income must fall within the defined scholarship tiers
✅ Camper Age: Child must be within the camp’s age range
✅ Commitment: Families must confirm their camper will attend if awarded funds

Documents Required:

  • Proof of household income (pay stub, tax return, SNAP/WIC eligibility, or other verification)

  • Completed scholarship application 

Applicable Programs:

  • Summer Day Camps (Pre-K - 6th Grade)

  • Specialty Summer Camps taking place between June and August 2025 (excluding Challenger Soccer Camps)

Notes:

  • Families will be notified via email by February 13th, 2026

    • Families will receive one follow up phone call 

  • If a family declines or does not respond within 48 hours, funds will not be awarded for use..
